Extending deadline for pensioners’ submission for ‘Life Certificates’: Press release

​Toronto/Canadian-Media: According to a press release by the Government of India’s press release vide it’s OM №18/1/2020-P&PW(H)-Vol-III-6786 dated 23 November 2020, there has been an extension of the deadline for submission of ‘Life Certificates’ by the Central Government pensioners till February 28, 2021, Consulate General of India Toronto office reported.

Under its Consular Jurisdiction, Consulate General of India, Toronto office has issued more than 5000 Life Certificates since October 2020 to the pensioners from BLS Brampton office, its own premises in Toronto (365 Bloor St E #700, Toronto, ON M4W 3L4) and at the Consular Camps organized at various places.

Applicants who still need their Life Certificate can get it one of the two ways: In person at the consulate or by postal means

The in-person pick up of the Life Certificate by the pensioners requires prior appointment from Consulate by writing at — reception.toronto@mea.gov.in. Applicants will be informed by email of a date and time and the documents required by the pensioners are duly filled in the updated application form in duplicate and a copy of passport. Applicants will be required to bring these documents in person to the Consulate. Life Certificate will be issued on the spot.

The Life Certificate requests may be also be sent by Post/Courier to the Consulate (365 Bloor St E #700, Toronto, ON M4W 3L4) with application in a sealed envelope, duly filled in application forms in duplicate along with a copy of the passport. This should be accompanied by a self-addressed pre-paid envelope of Canada Post or any courier company to facilitate the return of the serviced document. For postal applications, applicants are requested to provide a local Whatsapp number for video calls for verification purposes. Life Certificate will be issued only after verification of the applicant through a video call.
