The corporation is mandated to enhance Canadians’ knowledge, awareness of world history and cultures, understanding and appreciation of events, experiences, people, and objects that have shaped Canada’s history and identity.

One of the special exhibitions of the Canadian Museum of History which are open Sep 2020 through Jan 31, 2021, is a new special display ‘Highlights From the Rick Hansen Man In Motion World Tour Collection’ which features 18 iconic objects documenting the 26-month, 40,000-kilometre wheelchair marathon around the world taken by Canadian marathon, Hansen in 1985 with a goal to promote accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities, which Hansen generously donated to the Canadian Museum of History at a live virtual event in May 2020.
